  3. Using NPAWeb

NPAWorks is now Mac-friendly! NPAWeb is a new way to access and use NPAWorks and is designed to be compatible with all modern browsers, all operating systems (including Macs!), tablets, and all desktops.

Before we begin, below you will find the supported operating systems, devices, and browsers.

Supported devices:

Desktops and Tablet devices with at least a medium-sized screen (iPad or bigger).

  • Chrome 58.0.0000+
  • Firefox 56.0.0+

  • *Internet Explorer is no longer supported by Microsoft. Internet Edge is the only current Microsoft browser.

Logging In

Accessing NPAWorks via NPAWeb is as easy as logging in! However, instead of clicking the normal “Run NPAWorks” button on your company’s Run Page, please click “Run NPAWeb” instead.

After a brief loading screen, you will see the normal NPAWorks login. Please use your NPAWorks credentials to log in.

Once you’re logged, in you may use NPAWorks normally. However, there are a few minor differences while using NPAWeb versus what you may be used to in NPAWorks. Please see the topics below for these caveats.

Logging Out

All users in NPAWeb will be automatically logged out after 2 hours of inactivity. This setting cannot be changed and applies to all users.

After 2 hours of inactivity, you will lose ALL unsaved NPAWorks data and all NPAWorks windows will be closed. Additionally, any files uploaded in NPAWeb, but that are not yet saved in NPAWorks, will be lost.

The regular NPAWorks timeout duration will continue to apply, based on your company-defined user role settings, and are independent of NPAWeb timeouts. For example, if you are timed out in NPAWorks (say, after 20 minutes of inactivity), but are still logged in NPAWeb, when you log back into NPAWorks within 2 hours of inactivity, you will be able to resume your work and will not lose any unsaved work. When your NPAWeb session is timed out, you will automatically be redirected to your company’s Run Page and unsaved changes in NPAWorks will be lost.  Any files uploaded to NPAWeb Secure File Upload (see below) will be cleared.

Navigating within NPAWeb

Navigating between windows is largely the same within NPAWeb. The biggest difference versus NPAWorks is that you can only be logged into NPAWeb in one browser tab or window.

Note, to efficiently have multiple NPAWorks windows open on multiple monitors, simply stretch your browser window across your monitors. You will then be able to have multiple NPAWorks windows open within the single NPAWeb browser window.

Multiple open windows in NPAWeb are displayed collapsed at the bottom of your browser window.

To scroll on a Tablet device

To scroll on a tablet device, simply tap and hold on the scrollbar until it turns gray, then slide up or down to scroll.

Uploading & Downloading Files on a Tablet

To download files on a Tablet device

To upload files on a tablet device, simply select the down arrow icon on the gray bar at the top of the screen to see the options.

Tap the icon on the far right to open the Secure File Vault, or simply tap on the cloud icon with the UP arrow. You will be presented with options specific to either your Apple iPad, or your Android tablet. The example here is shown on an iPad.

To download files on a Tablet device

To download files onto your tablet, tap the cloud icon with the DOWN arrow. You will see a file selector window open. In there, navigate to “WebFile on…” and select your desired file(s).

Uploading Files

To upload files using a desktop device:

  1. First, upload your file to NPAWeb using either of the following methods:
    1. Drag and drop your file anywhere within the NPAWeb screen
    2. Locate the top toolbar.
      1. Click the downward-facing arrow on the gray file transfer toolbar to open the toolbar.
      2. Select the first Cloud icon with the upward-facing arrow, labeled “From PC to Server”. You will then be prompted to select the file(s) you would like to upload. Select your file(s) and click “Open”.

  1. You will briefly see the NPAWeb Secure File Upload window display. This box will disappear once your file(s) are successfully uploaded.

  1. In NPAWorks, navigate to where you would like to upload your selected file(s). When you click Upload (for example in Notes & Issues), you will see a file selector window open. In there, navigate to “WebFile on…” and select your desired file(s).

  1. Done! Your file has now been uploaded to the record. Be sure to save your changes!

Generating Downloadable Reports

Generating and downloading reports is also different than in NPAWorks.

Once you have set your report options and with the save location window displayed, select the “WebFile on xxxx” option.

Your reports will be generated.

Once you click OK on the Zip Generated pop-up, you will see the report has downloaded to the server.

Double-click on the file to download it to your browser’s default download location.
