This document will show the user how to indicate if an appointment has a “Direct”, or “Indirect” service within the funding source.

  1. Beginning on the main screen of your NPAWorks database
    1. Click on “Funding Sources” located on the left hand side of the window.
    2. Select the Funding Source record you wish to edit.
    3. To open the selected Funding Source, click the button or hit “Enter” on your keyboard.

  2. With the Funding Source window open
    1. Click on the “Services” tab.
    2. Scroll over to the right to view the “Direct/Indirect Default” column.
    3. In this Direct/Indirect Default column, click on the cell corresponding to the service you would like to edit.

  3. A new window named “Direct/Indirect Propagation” will appear.
    1. Click on the “Direct/Indirect Appts” dropdown menu. Select one of the following options
      1. Do Not Show – This will disable the Direct/Indirect drop down menu from appearing at the appointment level for the service you selected.
      2. Default to Direct – This will default appointments for the service to be labeled as Direct. Note, the Direct/Indirect status can be adjusted on the appointment level if needed.
      3. Default to Indirect – This will default appointments for the selected service to be labeled as Indirect. Again, the Direct/Indirect status can be adjusted on the appointment level if needed.
      4. Set at Appointment – This will not default any appointment as direct or indirect for this service, but the dropdown will be available to be modified on the appointment level. Note, when scheduling an appointment you must select either Direct or Indirect in order to render and save the appointment.

  4. Next, select the “Appointment Propagation Options” to specify how the default should be propagated.
    1. Do not update – This will not propagate to any existing appointment.
    2. Update all existing appointments – This will propagate the selection to all appointments associated with this service.
    3. Update all existing appointments on or after – This option sets the propagation on the funding source level, as well as, for any existing appointments that are scheduled on or after the chosen propagation date. This will not affect appointments dated before the selected propagation date.
      1. Use the drop down calendar to select the propagation date.
    4. Press OK on the lower right hand corner of the window to set the propagation.

  5. Press OK located on the right hand corner of the Funding Source window to save your changes in the funding source.
